Executive Letter, January 2023

Moving into 2023, I am enthusiastic about the year IRT has ahead. Our IRT Scholars submitted their applications for graduate school, and we could not be more proud of them. We are grateful for the support of the IRT staff, external advisors, and IRT alums who aided and supported the process.

As our Scholars continue to navigate the admissions process with interviews and preview days, the IRT begins to open ours. Our alums continue to recognize prospective educators and to ensure we have the representation of future scholarship we need. Applications are open until March 1, so please share the application amongst your networks. If you would like to review the IRT application process or to share application resources, please visit our application page.

Our Alumni Committee’s tireless work advancing the community among our alums is invigorating. I had the opportunity to meet with alums and support activities the Alumni Committee is developing. As we progress toward the IRT Summer, we are excited for the opportunity to engage and develop our curriculum to meet the needs of our incoming Scholars. Our staff and Alumni Committee are working to ensure the curriculum centers values and pedagogical practices the IRT holds dear. Reach out to us if you would like to support our efforts.

As we continue to assess the impact of IRT, I would like to make another plea to complete this survey. We are working to centralize information regarding texts or scholarship contributed by IRT alums. Our current Scholars are always intrigued to know when frameworks or ideas they center come from within the IRT community. For our alums who are K-12 educators, please reach out and share your experiences as well. We value hearing your updates along with connecting you to current Scholars.

Best,

Signature
